The Experience

Step into a different rhythm

A week of movement, inquiry, ceremony, nature and time to slow down

The 5 Energy Basics

A shared language for the week

Early in the retreat, you'll explore five ways of understanding your own experience. Together, they become a shared language for the week

Can I stay here with what I'm experiencing?

Explore what helps you stay present with an experience rather than immediately reacting

Inquiry

What happens when you stop assuming you already know?

I don't know

Sometimes, knowing can stop inquiry. Once you've decided this is who I am, this is what I need or this is how things work, there's often little reason to keep looking

Questioning opens something different

Body awareness

Your body is part of the inquiry

Throughout the week, you'll explore attention through movement, breath, energetic meditation and other body-based practices

Notice where you feel yourself in space, how you're breathing, where movement begins and what changes when your attention moves somewhere new

A new way of listening to yourself

Ceremony

Creating sacred space

You don't need to share a particular spiritual belief to participate

Ceremony creates a space that feels different from ordinary life, with greater intention, attention and openness to what may be experienced beyond the everyday

Practices may include clearing the space with sage, creating an altar, working with the spiral, cacao, sound and shared intention

The invitation is experiential

Nature

Nature doesn't follow the schedule

At Playa El Coco, the natural world is part of the experience rather than simply the backdrop

The tide changes. Darkness arrives. The ocean shifts. Monkeys move through the trees. If they appear during a session, the session might stop so everyone can get up and watch

As part of each retreat registration, Rejuvenation Rituals contributes to the Vital Actions Turtle Defense Fund: $150 for each Individual Retreat guest and $300 for each Couples Retreat couple

The rhythm of a day

The day has breathing room

The retreat has structure, but the schedule isn't designed to fill every available hour

Movement or yoga, followed by breakfast and a guided morning session

Free time

There is more to the week than the work

There are hours when nothing is required of you

Swim. Walk the beach. Rest in a hammock. Spend time with other guests. Be alone. Follow whatever feels good that afternoon

What you need might be more space, not more to do

  • Two people talking in rocking chairs in warm late-day light overlooking the trees
  • A couple walking together across the reflective shoreline at Playa El Coco
  • An optional massage on an open balcony overlooking tropical trees and the ocean
  • A surfer riding a wave near the forested coast
  • Open-air bamboo bar and wooden stools beside the Sanctuary pool

Sanctuary on the Beach

A sanctuary in more than name

Sanctuary on the Beach creates a physical boundary around the week, tucked between tropical forest and the Pacific Ocean
